Yesterday, while waiting to go to the party...I sat in the open doorway and waited for a bird to come. I had my camera ready. I was just about to give up...looking through the lens and seeing all the pretty trees and flowers and there it was...an Oriole. We get so many of these but I wanted a big bird picture to put here. This is what I got. I didn't have time to zoom or anything. I think that older people's reflexes aren't so good. I'll just have to enjoy other's pictures and just forget it. Or maybe I will get lucky...sitting by the open door someday and snap a beauty. Anyway...these birds are favorites of ours. They eat us out of jars of jelly. We need to buy the jumbo jars. The little sparrows are fond of jelly too...and they eat when the orioles let them. Now, the oriole has learned to sit on the hummingbird feeder to the left of the bird. It's big enough for them to sit on a perch and just drink to their heart's content. Jelly and juice...is all that sugar good for them? I wonder.

What a pretty bird, Balisha.
That's a good pic, Balisha, I left clicked on it and enlarged it. I haven't seen an oriole since I was a child. I wish we had them here.
I think that they are one of the prettiest birds. They have a pretty song, but they do chatter when the dish is empty. When fall comes, we always see their nest hanging from the top of the tallest tree. Once my neighbor had one hanging on her back porch, which is very unusual for them. Thanks for always reading and leaving the nicest comments...I appreciate you. Balisha
Balisha,
Have you tried to crop the picture so you have just the oriole and the feeder? That would make him appear much larger. We have orioles here, but not in my yard. It would be a thrill to see one. I will just have to enjoy yours!
Hi Zoey...I'll have to try that. This picture of the bird isn't really sharp, but I'll try it.

Great photo Balisha! The cropping makes the difference.

Great closeup of that Oriole Balisha! I wish these pretty birds visited my garden, but I've never seen a one. :(
Good Morning..I really like your blog new look!
We see a few orioles around here but not many. I suspect they would be around if we put out jelly or fruit.
Sounds like a good diet to me!
