I thought that we had solved the problem we have with our resident house finches on our front porch. We put new light fixtures on the house late last summer...ones that would be impossible to build a nest on. Well....here is the next chapter in this story. Hmmmm! Where did these come from?
A little bird sat on my front porch rail..
Shaking his head and bobbing his tail.
A glance at the light fixture up on the wall...
To his lady in the tree, he gave a sad call.
"Our home's been destroyed..what shall we do?
The light on the wall was now shiny and new.
You see in the past, their nest had been there...
They flew to and fro with nary a care.
The man of the house decided to change it...
These two little finches will now have a fit.
The lady came out with a wreath that was nice...
The wee feathered couple didn't think twice.
They busied themselves in the next day or two...
Bringing things to build..a home that was new.
Before we could change it, the nest on the wreath...
Was built and completed.. my chair just beneath.
A little while later, while taking a peek.
Five eggs were laid in a tiny bird heap.
Now when I sit in my favorite chair...
The tiny couple just has to beware.
They fly to and fro to the wreath on the wall...
One sits on a branch to his mate gives a call.
They're a loving couple.. always together..
I'm sure they'll be here in all kinds of weather.
The man of the house, he grumbles a bit...
But he cares for these birdies who just want to sit,
On their nest on the wreath that hangs on the wall.
What a better life now.. for one and for all.

The same thing happened to me two years ago. If we went out the front door there was mother and her eggs. Not a nice experience.
How cool that these innovative little creatures decided to be part of your wreath decoration :)
Love the pics!!
Oh, how cute! Delightful! Those eggs appeared so quickly no wonder they were in such a hurry to make a nest. And, what a beautiful place they found to live in.
Isn't that sweet! They do the same thing with my shed wall hanging planters every year. :)
These little birds are so dedicated to each other,,,we will just let them be. I don't mind some poop on my head LOL
They do find a way don't they. I love your wreath and it does look natural with the "real" birds nest.
