I made a list this morning of all the things that I could do to make my gardening easier. I realize that this isn't the most interesting post, but I can look back at this to see what I did and later I'll post about how it all worked out. Keeping things close to the house for watering will be a blessing. When I'm finished with my gardening chores...I can go sit on my bench by the woods... and just relax and watch the birds. This year I'll take time to smell the flowers.
1.The main thing is to remove the 2 large pots from the border of the woods. It's hard for me to haul the water back there and with them gone...I could just let nature take it's course...what survives without water will stay. I won't be doing anymore planting in this spot. No annuals just let things be the way they are.
2. I have little pots of sedums along the west side of the house. I want to bring the all together in a group. They are in the way of mowing and with them gone the fellow can mow right up close and I won't have to trim.
3.I will put the blackeyed susan vine at the base of my purple clematis, so I don't have to water it separately. That should be really pretty too.
4.No hanging baskets on deck......just birdfeeders. I will have the cup and saucer planter with a Red Robin tomato on my deck table. The strawberry jar has some empty spots and will be planted with herbs and two scented geraniums on top..(red).
5.Tomatoes will be planted around the house for easy watering.
6.Geraniums in a pot on the front porch with rosemary plant.
These are just a few ideas that I came up with since yesterday. It should be easier to maintain. Pulling the hose or carrying buckets to the woods is a pain in the neck and takes so much time. Why didn't I think of this before?
