An Apple Poem for a Friend
It feels like fall let's go for a ride..
The tapestry's changing in the countryside.
The green's of summer are now changing their hue..
To the reds, rusts, and oranges that we once knew.
A ride in the country is on for today..
To see all the changes that are ever so gay.
We drive to our favorite spot out of the city..
To find just the perfect tree that's ever so pretty.
I look to the right and what do I see?
An apple that's hanging...waiting for me.
I dream of the sauces the crumbles and pie..
At home in my kitchen just ready to try.
Jonathons, Fujis, and then Paula Reds..
Recipes dancing around in my head.
We buy a big basket to take home with us..
We go to the car without making a fuss.
When we get home and pull in the drive..
I get a feeling of comfort and I'm oh so alive.
I have my apples on this fall country day..
Straight to my kitchen without any delay.
I get out my recipes all tried and true..
And make a sweet pie for my honey it's true.
He'll taste it and say, "Is there more of this dish?'
We have no more apples, a ride is my wish.
A drive through the countryside on a fall day..
We'll stop and buy apples is what I will say.
