We had a wonderful afternoon with friends, yesterday. Nancy and Ralph have been my best friends for years. They had something to do with bringing Joe and I together. Something that I will never forget. Nancy and I always exchanged birthday and Christmas gifts... in the past, but we decided to stop exchanging a couple of years ago. I recently found a little angel with the Serenity Prayer on it...so I bought her an unbirthday gift. I was surprised when she handed me a bag containing a wonderful cookbook...an unbirthday gift too. In the bottom of the bag was a little pink stretchy bracelet. Nancy and Ralph's daughter-in-law, Ann, has been going through cancer treatment. Nancy said they have been wearing the bracelets in support of Ann. I promptly put it on and will think of Ann everytime I look at it. There are bracelets of all colors...for different causes. Don't you always notice them and wonder what they represent? I think that they cause us to pause for a moment and wonder in the midst of our busy lives. Maybe we say a little prayer or maybe it reminds us that life is short and we should really enjoy each day. Maybe it tells us to be more kind and thoughtful. No matter what we think, when we see someone wearing one...it is a simple thing to do to say we care. Ann is doing well with the treatment she and her husband have chosen for her. Progress is celebrated with each good report. When I put the pink bracelet on, I said a little prayer that she would be all right.Balisha
