A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Icebound...Soon to be Snowbound

Weathermen going crazy....people filling the stores....everyone listening to weather stations...carts full of groceries...and shoppers trying to beat the coming weather doing last minute shopping. What are we doing...you might ask? Staying in the warm house and watching out the window. We can't go anywhere...our driveway is ice covered and so are the streets in our area. Die hard shoppers are slowly going by...determined to get their Christmas shopping done.A dog walker being pulled by her big Lab.
A squirrel just slid by....trying to keep his footing on the ice covered snow.Funny little fellow looks like he has skates on. Scrappy little chickadees slipping on the ice covered sunflower seeds. Peck, peck pecking until they break through the thin layer. My foot prints on the snow covered deck...filled with ice this morning. Hard and crunchy walking later to fill the feeder....the railing close by to hang on to, if I need it.Big black crows gathering in the icy street...looks like they are having a meeting about the weather. Probably wondering where their next meal will come from. The sound of a Blue Jay is heard back in the woods. Here he comes, bold and majestic pecking hard with his sharp beak. "Nothing to it"...he might say. Just a normal day in the winter for these hardy birds. Do they know what is coming later today? Are they getting food stored up, like so many people are, for the storm ahead? How do they hang on to icy branches? Do they dread this weather or revel in it? Where do they spend their time during a storm? Questions going through my mind this early morning.
In my world...people are sliding by on icy streets, some bravely walking, Dressed in warm coats, hats, scarves, gloves, pants, and boots. Today isn't a day for fashion. When I go out to feed my birdies...I'll be wearing Joe's old Chicago Bulls jacket, Chicago Bears knit hat, boots, and warm gloves. These are the handiest things hanging on our clothes rack near the back door. Roomy and easy to pull on for me. The neighbors are used to my outfits....a character they might think.
Here in the house....The tapping of the keys, while I type, is drowned out by  sounds from Joe's computer...the Clydesdale commercials ....Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without the Clydesdales. Speaking of commercials this Christmas season....aren't you tired of them? Do they encourage you to buy anything? After a lengthy commercial, I sometimes forget what they are selling...
A turkey breast in the freezer downstairs is calling me. If I'm to be snowbound...we will have a nice meal.
We'll get through this one, but please Lord....no snow on the 26th when Joe has surgery.

Hi Balisha! I've just been reading quite a few of your older posts, wanting to catch up since it's been so long since I've visited. Quite a difference a relatively few miles makes! We've had rain here in the south suburbs instead of snow. Much of the snow we've had this month is melted now. Flurries here this morning, but so far the ground is warm enough that nothing is sticking. But seeing the forecast this morning I see things will be changing down here over the next hours and days.

My thoughts are with you and Joe, sending healing wishes and prayers for Joe's surgery coming up soon.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your Tim. It sounds like this must have been a very difficult year. I can't imagine anything harder in life than losing a child. My heart goes out to you and your entire family. May the love you have for him, and your memories bring you comfort and peace.

I hope your holidays are bright and joyful and 2014 is a safe and healthy year for you, Joe, and all your family. Merry Christmas! Hugs, Linda

We, too, are snowbound. I love it because it's on a Sunday and I don't have to go in to work! I am spending the day puttering, and looking outside at all the beauty.

I went outside earlier and took some pictures. I even cleaned off the front porch. Can't tell it now, though, as it's snow covered again!

Stay in and enjoy from the inside...We are having a strange second day of winter...65 degrees here which is very unusual.
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas.

Interesting to read of your weather.
Has been so wild here with forecast for more tomorrow. 80 mph gales. Torrential rain. People south of the river lots of serious flooding. Some spent Christmas in rescue halls. Thousands without power and many without water.Flights cancelled, trains unable to run. Not everyone could get home for Christmas. Feel blessed to have a normal time in a cosy home.
