A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

The Birthday by Balisha

The Birthday by Balisha

Talking to my daughter.. on the phone just yesterday..
Reminiscing about days gone by... when I was not so gray.
Her birthday is today and I need to take the time..
To wish her Happy Birthday with a little rhyme.
We talked of birthdays long ago.. when she was but a girl..
So full of energy and pep... and always in a twirl.
A party for her little friends, at noon, for birthday fun..
Hot dogs on the menu...one for everyone.
She wore a dress of powder blue ...tiny flowers in a row...
She chattered so with all her friends while moving to and fro..
She held the bun tight in her hand... her hot dog took a leap.
And landed on the powder blue...mustard began to seep.
She looked at me with eyes so big...I thought that she would cry..
I brought in the cake and presents... and began to really try..
To make the party happy... for this little girl of mine..
She blew out the candles and opened gifts ...and everything was fine.
Things that we remember.. aren't always perfect ones..
Little mishaps in our lives now remembered as times of fun.
Birthday wishes and love... are sent to you in heaps..
Hang on to that dog my dear,  don't let it take a leap.

Fifty five years ago found me Christmas shopping in Elgin, Illinois. I was a little late in my pregnancy and was fretting about how I was going to get Christmas done...with a little boy just over 1 yr and a new baby that was a little overdo. A friend asked if I wanted to go shopping with her and I worried a bit about doing this, but decided to go ahead and go with her. I got the shopping done....(we had so few to buy for at that time) and came  home. After showing my husband what I bought... we went to bed and then as I relaxed...my labor pains started. The next day my daughter was born.As it happened, I shouldn't have worried...I had plenty of time to buy those gifts....I just had a moment of panic.

happy birthday to your girl! She's got a great mom! I am glad that you were not affected by the storms...I remembered Illinois and checked early this morning and your about me said northern illinois while from the news it appears that it was the south that got hit badly and oh my SO badly :(

I've not had a hot dog for ages and now you have me craving one with your poem : )

No matter how old they are, we always remember the day of their birth. I worried about the storm and you--glad all is well.
