A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Favorite Thing....Saturday

Join Claudia http://mockingbirdhillcottage.com/ today for another Favorite Things. I'm so glad that we do this on Sat. it gives me something wonderful to look at over the weekend, when there is some down time.

My favorite houseplant has to be the Cyclamen. I got this Cyclamen a few years ago. Every year since then it has, bloomed...but not like this year. I brought it up from it's rest in the basement in early Feb. and it bloomed for Valentine's Day. It went on to bloom for Easter, then it bloomed for my birthday, it bloomed for Earth Day in April, it bloomed for Mother's Day, it bloomed for Memorial Day and now it looks like it will bloom for our anniversary on the 14th and maybe even Father's Day. ..Who knows?
It has been sitting in the same place for 4 months. We have some reds in our living room and it has looked so pretty sitting there with it's red back swept blooms. It started out with 4 blooms and has since been covered with blossoms. All I have done is keep it moist and give it a turn once in a while.I do keep the faded blooms pulled off too.  I like the way it grows a plant that I would call free form...not structured. The Red Bud Tree is a favorite of mine too with it's twisty meandering branches. The leaves are as pretty as the flowers in this Cyclamen. Soon, I will put the  plant in a cool, dark spot for the summer giving it just enough water to prevent its roots from drying out completely. In fall, I'll put the plant back in bright light and resume watering and fertilizing. Blooms should appear in 2-3 months. So, if you want a plant for many months blooms....get one of these and keep it in a north window, water it often, and just enjoy..

You've given me a great idea, Balisha. I really like cyclamen and yours seems to be thriving!

Thinking of you and sending you hugs.

Red Bud trees are my favorite--they look kind of like something oriental--with their limbs--so wispy and all. Your plant is gorgeous! I don't seem to have much luck with keeping gift plants growing for years. Happy Anniversary--Flag Day--it was my first wedding day also. I told my husband--you will never forget our anniversary--every time you see flags flying--bring me a gift. LOL It would be our 56 anniversary, if we had managed to avoid the divorce

You sure know your stuff. I saw these at Home Depot a few weeks ago but I've never had any luck with flowering indoor plants. It really is pretty and the red is so cheery!

Have a great weekend!

I have never had much luck getting them to rebloom. Maybe I will give it a try.

Good morning! I think of you often! I have several of these little plants and I love them. I KNOW they have been abused and they they continue to try to live and flower. They either get over watered or I suddenly realize they are wilting! I am a BAD plant mom!

This plant sounds like it might do well on one of my wide window sills. Red blooms are my favorite ~
