A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

This morning it's bright and clear, but cold. I've been hearing birds of all kinds singing their spring songs. So much busyness in the bird world. I'm going to venture out and take a little walk this afternoon while our roast is cooking. Joe bought a beef roast without thinking that today is St Patrick's Day and we should have corned beef. I suggested that everyday can be St Patrick's Day...why not have corned beef later in the week. So, being an old meat cutter...he made a trip to town to buy a corned beef.He needs no prompting to buy meat. Always ready to get into that old familiar meat department. When we first married, I used to love to grocery shop with him. When he spotted the meat dept. I was left to follow him and there he went with his eyes straight ahead with a little spring in his step and a smile on his face.Today he came home with bags...bags full of small red potatoes, carrots, the corned beef (selected by himself) and two giant heads of cabbage. Now we are two people and we can eat only so much cabbage, but... " It was only 10 cents a lb." he said.So in the next couple of weeks we will have cabbage...coleslaw, fried cabbage, stewed cabbage, coleslaw again...and on and on. Our roast today is a beef sirloin tip and he will cook it on the rotisserie. I am making mashed potatoes, gravy and green bean casserole and a salad (maybe coleslaw). We will have lots of leftovers this week. My kind of week.
I finished a couple of watercolor- mixed media paintings and got them hung on the wall. Now I'm having trouble with my camera, so will have to wait on pictures till I can figure the darn thing out. I love gadgets...only when they work well.
I'm feeling a whole lot better...so I guess I will live. This past month has been one for the books. I've never been so sick...so glad it's just about over. I'm weak as a kitten, as they say. Little by little my strength is returning. It won't be long before I'm my old sassy self.
So, today as I gaze out the window and see my bird friends...I'll take time to notice the snow receding in the back yard, the buds are on the tree branches, the forsythia is getting ready to pop, the daffs are up, the crocus are getting ready, and spring is in the wings. This is our birthday month. As my BIL said....two Aries living together....that must be interesting.

You made me very hungry. I had not heard from my son so I thought a quiet day of sewing, reading etc. Next you know they are all coming over and my niece as well. Put the sewing away, run to the store. Something quick so it'll be sausage and peppers and pasta and I decided may as well dye some easter eggs too

But your dinner sounds better. WAYYYYYYYYYYYY Better :)

A shared birthday month. That's fun. My mom said the same thing about the birds this morning. She's spreading the word that spring must be here. The birds know more than we do.
Sounds like good eating at your house this week! Have a good one.

Hope you had a happy St. Patrick's Day! Your meal made my mouth water and it's only 7:00am. I'm so glad you are feeling better. Just hearing the birds sing always makes me smile!
