A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

My Strawberry Jar by Balisha

The above picture is the strawberry jar in my garden this past summer.
The one below is it right now in the garage so it doesn't crack in the cold.

My Strawberry Jar, by Balisha

It was on my birthday... several years ago..

A gift card was the present...one that I loved so.
Something special for you, Mom...you will  have to choose.
Oh, what to buy went through my head..a moment not to lose..
I traveled to the greenhouse near our little town..
I got there bright and early and began to look around.
Flats of posies  here and there and shrubs with flowers bright,
Were there for me to choose from...it really was a sight.
I wandered back and forth a bit and then I settled down,
What do I want I wondered.. and stood there with a frown.
What can I keep for memories to put in my garden dear..
I really want to choose something to keep from year to year.
Terra Cotta pots have been favorites of mine..
I saw something that I liked.. and thought it was sublime.
A strawberry jar was standing there...it beckoned to me then..
Take me home, please, Balisha...you must remember when.
You saw one in a friend's backyard so many years ago..
It was filled with flowers lovely.. and put on quite a show.
So, I bought the jar and brought it home to my garden on the drive..
I filled it with some sedums and watched it really thrive.
Today it sits in my garage...waiting for spring to come..
It's the first thing to go outside..I'll find a bright spot with full sun.
It will sit there in my garden and bring memories of my son.
Balisha
