A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

August 1st In My Yard...Warts and All

I came out of the garage and turned to my right. There is the garden by the drive. As you can see...not much color. The Japanese beetles and summer sun has done a number on my flowers. They have all bloomed but for a much shorter time. The big plant to the left is a clump of Asters. They are so reliable and will add the color I love.

Here we turn to the right across the front of the house and see the mums waiting in the wings. Can't wait for their color this year.
Keeping on across the front we find the new garden. It is coming along fine...being watered quite a bit.
Turning again to the right we see the Black Eyed Susans coming on with their reliable bright color. I have a lot of these...I'm only showing this clump. I think that any daisy type flower is so perky and most are heavy bloomers.Very long lasting.

I have had trouble with Russian Sage lopping over. I happened to have this copper bird bath and thought why not use it as a support for this clump of flowers? It works very well and keeps the R. Sage from lying on the lavender.

Turning the corner we see lots of hostas. The plants are up against the house and get more shade than many places in my hot yard.
A bank of hostas against the deck. I once found the snake in these hostas, so I am extra careful when taking care of these.

Next we see Audra's geraniums. They are planted right in the middle of my Lily of the Valley. I'm bringing them in this winter for some color in the basement.

Gardening has been so hard for me this year. I have done it all myself. I've had to change the way I garden. and also the amount of time I spend each day. I have learned to pace myself and not expect perfection. Well, you don't want to hear about all that complaining...so I'll invite you back tomorrow. This was just part one of my walk. Tomorrow I'll show what you missed today. Tomatoes, and some flowers.

Things are looking wonderful in your gardens... much better than mine. I just can't seem to get into gardening this year, for many reasons!!! One including this crazy weather, just too hot. Maybe next year things will be better and I will have more interest.Hope you have a great day I can't wait to see the tomatoes,we have none ripe quite yet!

All things considered, Balisha, I think it all looks very nice. I admire your front porch. Would love to have one. We miss the one we had on the previous house. Here we have a wonderful garden, but no porch. Can't have everything.

In the Spring everything looked beautiful here by the woods.
My story similar to yours but you have more blooming then I do...
I am not adding anymore plants :)

Hi Lynn...No wonder you've not gardened as much..You've just put on a fabulous wedding...one that your daughter will never forget. My advice is to put your feet up and relax...can you do it?

Hi Barbee...We do love our little porch. This year we've not used it as much because of the heat. I do sit out there for a bit everyday, just to get out of the house.

Hi Britt...Happy August to you too. I really enjoyed your posts from the states, but I love when you write from your home in Norway.

Hi Ernestine,
I know that you have experienced about the same weather as we have. I hardly go back to the woods...it's so disappointing. Do you mean you're not planting any more for this season?
