A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Here's Brandon holding his nephew, Drake.
We went out for pizza for Grandson Brandon's 17th birthday. He's growing up so fast. He was just a little boy, when I married his Grandpa....around 7 yrs. old. He and I hit it off right away. We live closeby so we were able to visit him quite a bit in those years. I think that he thought that I was there for him to play with. We did it all...played catch, made cookies, played Monopoly...and checkers. One time when I was taking too much time in checkers he said, "You think too much." That expression has followed me since then. Whenever I am in a quandry about what to do...Joe says, "Balisha, you think too much." Brandon passed his driver's test and after today he will be on the road. A scarey time for parents and grandparents. My other grandson, Collin, is doing the same. Oh, my, two of my favortie people starting out on the road. Double worries for this grandma.
We spent the rest of the weekend in front of the TV watching the Olympics. So proud of all the US athletes. What a lot of work goes into making an Olympian. They are America's finest. It's fun seeing all the veterans of past Olympics come back to compete again.....and even more fun to see a winner come right out the the blue, that you were least expecting to win, do just that. The look of joy on their faces is evident. I only wish that our women's gymnastics team would look a little happier. One of them...Gabby Douglas has a smile that doesn't quit...the other girls could take a lesson from her. Well, it continues on today...giving us such wonderful programming to watch.

I understand your grandmotherly concerns about these young people beginning to drive. I share that right along with you. Five of our six are driving now. The youngest driver has to drive a big-ol' pickup truck that was his other grandfather's truck, to his chagrin. His Papa and I are glad he does. We feel he is more protected in that old gas guzzler.

Two grandsons driving at the same time! I understand your concern. I was not a good mother when my son learned to drive. I was way too nervous; luckily DH was able to sit in the passenger seat as he learned.

I always said that my kid's first car would be a tank. Getting them through those first times on the road was very hard for me. Their Dad was so patient...that's why good old Dad did most of the training.. :)
