A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Yarn Crafts in Summer?

These pictures were taken from the internet.

I wonder why..at this time of the year...I start thinking about winter crafts. Last week found me searching the internet for just the right pattern for a scarf to knit. Yes...I was thinking of wool on an almost 100 deg. day. Christmas gifts come to mind too. I make some of my presents, and always have, so I do get started early. Scouring the internet is an enjoyable thing for me. When it's blistering hot outside, I sit at my computer, in the coolness of the house, and surf. I found a scarf pattern and started making it yesterday. It's made out of a beautiful yarn called fresh lilac ombre. I had a pattern for this scarf already... from a friend, but I had misplaced it...so since these scarves are so popular, I searched for a new one. It's fun to do and once you get the swing of things...goes really quickly.I spent a couple of hours yesterday afternoon working on this.

I got to thinking about the weather and time of year... this morning. Audra said just the other day, "I hate summer." I asked why and she said that it's so hot, and that she has to weed. I had to chuckle at this little one....she has had to weed just once this summer. She'll do anything here at our house....because we make it fun, but I'm not sure she would enjoy weeding. I got to thinking about what she said and I guess that I could feel about the same way. I don't hate it, but when you work so hard to make things pretty...and mother nature sends a zinger of a hot rainless summer...it gets to be tiresome. Watering isn't my favorite thing. Sometimes standing there with the hose, I can let my mind wander and think about other pleasant things.....but this is ridiculous....no rain and none in sight. The plants are withering and drying to a crispy brown. So glad I planted the veggies in containers. They are easier to water and keep track of. The tomatoes seem to be thriving. So, I'll continue on with my watering till the rains come. We did make it easy this year and I'm so glad for the lightweight hose and a nearby connection.

Because of my knitting, I am looking ahead to fall. I realise that summer has just begun....but fall is in the wings. As Ernestine said just this morning,  Shorter day's are arriving and so welcome
Do not like it when it the sun is still shining at 8:00 pm.
Especially since I have been up since 4:30   http://myjourneytomindfulness.blogspot.com/
I tend to agree...I love the shorter days, when there is a little nip in the air. The doors to the house are shut early and the world is tucked in for the night.

I always start thinking knitting at this time of year...I think that it may be that when it is so hot, we are inside and it's a little chilly...so I naturally think of "warm" LOL Also, I like to do things to keep my hands limbered up. Thanks for commenting Jan.

I think that you may learn basic knitting from Youtube demos online. Do you have a Michael's or Hobby Lobby near you? I know that they have classes.I wish that you lived near...I could teach you what I know. I don't do anything complicated anymore, because I have a problem remembering where I am...when I put it down.....So I usually do very easy projects.
Ernestine, I think that you could pick it up quickly...there are so many beautiful yarns out there and it is such a relaxing hobby.
