A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Happy New Year 2012

It's mid morning on the first day of 2012. It was a very blustery night. I heard the wind start howling at 3AM...it continues into the morning. The sky was dark, when we got up, and now the clouds are moving fast and changing from sunny to dark and cloudy. The bird feeders are swinging in the wind. How do birds manage to fly in this weather?
We had a quiet New Year's Eve. We went to a very crowded Mass. Father said that most would be partying into the night and wouldn't want to come to Mass this morning. A few laughs from the congregation. He told us that the New Year started for Christians on Christmas Day. The day that Christ was born. After telling us to be careful and well...he ended the Mass. He was standing out in the wind...his vestments flying in the breeze...wishing all a Happy New Year.

We went to a nearby restaurant for dinner. The waitresses had tiaras with Happy New Year written on them...the restaurant was dimly lit and still decorated for Christmas. Lighted stars at the windows. Above the windows were decorated grapevines trailing across the bank of windows. Our food came and it was delicious. I didn't order a big meal, however, for I knew that we had snacks here at home.

We left the restaurant and came across the river to our neighborhood...still full of Christmas lights. We changed our clothes and decided to watch a movie. When the movie was over...we watched the New Year celebration in New York. Between Lady Gaga and Dick Clark, the ball dropped and it was the New Year. We wished each other a Happy New Year and shared a New Year kiss. We went to bed....me with all kinds of things going on in my head. I fell asleep quickly, however, but woke to hear fire crackers at midnight. I lay there for awhile , thinking about all the plans for the New Year. Maintaining a healthy diet, a bit more exercise, just keep on moving, taking care of my health, planning some art projects, keeping family close, my garden (what to do about those heavy garden chores) and most of all....keeping my faith. If I do all that...it will be a good year :)

I want to take this time to thank you all for following my blog. I know that many more read this than leave comments. I appreciate all of you who take the time to comment and to those of you who don't comment...I appreciate you too. Sometimes...most times actually, I sit here and pour my thoughts out on this computer and don't even think about people actually reading this. It comes from my heart and I just type. So, thank you again for reading and sharing a part of your lives with me. Our blogging world is huge, but very intimate at the same time. Love to you all...Happy 2012.

Sounds like a wonderful way to greet the new year. All but the wind maybe. LOL! It is hitting us now and the electricity has been off once already. May see a few flurries. SO the New Year is coming in on a mighty wind. LOL!
I have enjoyed your postings and pictures so much over the last year. I always love your poems and wise words.
Have a blessed year.

Balisha it sounds like you have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's Eve.It is funny that reading people's blogs every day makes you feel as if you know them and I guess after reading your thoughts we kinda do. We may never meet but thanks for all the postings and pictures. I have enjoyed the ride and will continue!

Sounds as though you had a great New Years and some great thoughts for the New Year. We started getting that storm last night. Power flickering and very high winds. I was hoping winter would skip this year. Best wishes for a Happy New Year.

Balisha, I share many of your thoughts - especially - how to handle heavy things in the garden this year. Think I have a plan :)
My New Years Eve was right for me.
It would have been different if there was someone else in this cottage as I have stopped driving at night. I contacted 6 people by phone that the Lord kept bringing to mind and knew I was to do this.
Home and pj's on at 6:30. Prayers of thankfulness and direction for the New Year. It went on and on and I fell asleep about 10:00.
First day of the year was up at usual 4:30. Yes, our blogging world is vast and we become close to many. Blessings to you in this New Year.

Hi everyone,
No matter how we celebrated, we all welcome the New Year in our own way.

We bloggers may never meet, but we have a network of caring individuals who read, and react to our posts. Either giving us an idea of what to write about or how to decorate or who needs a prayer.I can feel the love coming from all who comment.
