A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Luke's First Birthday

Luke had a party and everyone came. Grandma's, Grandpa's, Great Grandma's, Great Grandpa's, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. It was a houseful. Some of the big toys were unwrapped, so they were played with by all the kids. Luke was a good host...he shared with everybody, with no fuss. Mommy put a crown on his head and he was dubbed King of the Day. There were piles of presents. I think his favorite was a cell phone, in the bottom of one of the packages. His eyes lit up, when he saw it. After that, there was nothing to tempt him.

His first birthday cake was made by Mommy and Grandma. A big number one. He didn't know quite what to do with this. Finally he put his tiny finger into the frosting and then promptly into his mouth. Yum..."My Mom makes good cakes"...he seemed to say....and Grandma did an outstanding job on the decorating.

We were filled with all kinds of delicious snacks, by the time we were to eat the "real food." The hit of the party food was a hot jalapeno dip served with toasted french bread. This was gone almost as soon as it hit the table. Daddy worked the grill...making delicious burgers with his specialty hot cheese on top, brats, and hotdogs. There were so many guests...he cooked for a long time. Potato salad, pasta salad, and other sides, but no beans! Where were Grandpa Mark's famous baked beans???

It was a great party...we were all refreshed by a shower later in the afternoon and it cooled off. So, Happy Birthday little Luke...thanks for inviting us.
