A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Little at a Time...It'll Get Done

I was in the mood to work in the yard when I woke up this morning, but that feeling left almost as soon as my foot hit the floor. I  had told Joe that I was going to go out and plant my anemones this morning, before the rain. He prodded me a little (sometimes I think we should get a cattle prod :) so I dragged myself out to the garage. I wanted to get these in the ground, so that they can establish some roots before winter. I was going to plant them in my little side garden, where I have some herbs planted. It's just a small, narrow garden that follows the house from the front corner about half way down the house. Next year (there I go again) I'm going to plant Cut and Come again Zinnias from this garden to the corner.I was so pleased with the showy zinnias planted at the mailbox, Lately I've seen a couple of women picking a flower or two from this little display. The first picture is what the garden looked like, when I started out. Kind of a messy little place with plants overgrown. I cut off the dead flowers...the Susans... and pulled up some Ajuga. I made room for the three plants.
Here is that same garden looking up hill from the end of the house. I have removed some of the garden ornaments...and put them away, cleaned, till next year. The hummingbirds were flitting over my head asking for more nectar in the feeder that hangs on the trellis. I decided to put that one away. They can just get by with the two others. As I took the feeder down...they dive bombed my head and went right down to the grass to check out the empty feeder lying there.
This is a picture from another angle. I planted the anemones where the bricks are and one behind the copper birdbath. I left the straw like  stuff around the plant and put a stake where each one is. That way I can find them in the spring.
Going around to the back, I checked out my container with the Touch Me Nots in it. I decided that I would empty it too. It still looks nice, but I have to do things when I'm in the mood and have energy. (I got in the mood, by the way) I popped open one of the seed pods...can you imagine how many of these seeds are in my yard now? A bazillion I'll bet. I tossed them back in the woods...maybe they'll start up back there. It was a pretty container of plants that I was not familiar with. The seeds a gift from Patsy. I have some big Hostas to move, but I need a heavy foot for that. Guess who's got that heavy foot?

Hi Margie and Sissy, My gardens aren't so pretty right now. I've been out all morning and it looks pretty much the same as when I stepped out the door. I got the Cut and Come Agains from Renee's Garden. I want to put them in more places this next year. Balisha

Your new anemones will look so pretty next Summer Balisha. I only have one hummingbird feeder left filled. I am surprised that the hummingbirds are still hanging around here.
