The Mystery Solved...We Think

Yesterday I told about my hummingbird feeders being emptied so soon after filling. I thought that it was my little friend the squirrel. Well, it happened again last night. They were full when it got dark... When I woke up this morning...they were down on the deck floor and empty. Now we think that it was a raccoon. The telltale signs are...fur on the feeders, the heavy feeder on the deck floor totally empty, and this is a very big feeder. We've had raccoons before up near the deck. One year we had twins sitting at the bottom of the stairs hugging each other. When Joe investigated...they ran away and we found one in the garage up in the engine of the riding mower. After quite a scuffle...he got the coon out and carried him across the street on a broom. There wasn't a house across the street...just a field. The other one took off and Joe's kids said that they had a little one at their house that day. I was researching on the internet and found that bats drink from them too, but I don't think a bat or bats could get this big one down.I think that we will watch today and them bring them in the house at night, before dark.
I was just out on the front porch...hanging a hummingbird feeder, when I saw a Heron flying over. We live just over the road from the river and we see so many birds like this. Pretty exciting for me...the nature nut.
Our snake hasn't made his appearance yet...but I look for him each time I put my hands down in my flower bed. I have to cut back the daffodil leaves today...I'll be on the lookout.
Well, I have a package coming today...federal express, from N. Carolina. I have everything ready for it's contents. What do you suppose it is? Pictures tomorrow.

Oh, raccoons can be so destrutive. It is probably a good idea to bring them in at night. I can't imagine what could be in the package, but I can't wait to find out!

we have racoons also. They sit on the rail swinging their feet while they are eating out the feeders. Can't wait to see what is in the box.

You do have some interesting visitors to your garden.
Here it is foxes, squirrels and hedgehogs.

We have the woods behing the house...our neighborhood is called Nordic Woods..so that explains it. Also, the river is just over the highway behind us and the neighbors have a big pond. The neighbor up the street has a bog in her back yard, so we do get some interesting visitors.
