A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Bluebells and Exercise

The Virginia Bluebells are starting to bloom. They are spreading to different parts of the woods. I think that they just decided that Spring was going to be cold...so get on with it and bloom. I noticed that the Azalea is just opening too. The landscaper came yesterday and mulched around the house. First he trenched around the  gardens and then put Roundup on the grass that was on the edge. Then yesterday he came and unloaded 7 yards of mulch. He really did a good job. I will take pictures when the rain stops. Yes, I said rain....we are still cold and rainy. I just heard the local weatherman say that we should be happy with our weather and be thankful that we aren't having heat and the storms that are going on in the south.

We are continuing with our exercise program.....going to the PE center to workout and eating more healthy. We just watched Oprah ....she had Bob Green on,and they were talking about making a commitment to lead a healthier life. I think that Joe and I have made that commitment and will continue it for the rest of our lives. We both feel better...I haven't been as faithful as Joe...because of the physical work I have done in the yard, but this morning he left to go and I had planned on going with him. I was late getting ready and thought...hmmm maybe I'll just stay home. I got in the car later on... to go to the post office and the grocery, when I made a turn and headed for the gym. Joe had finished and was back home already, but I went in and did my 45 min to 1 hr. walking. No one else was there walking at that late hour....just a class of little kids running around the track in lane 1. I looked at them and thought about how much energy those kids have. They passed me and came around again and passed me again. A little girl shyly gave me a wave each time she went around. Here I was with all these 2nd graders...a 73 yr old woman with her old fashioned Sony Walkman in her hand...listening to a local radio station playing really peppy music. The peppy music and the kids helped me...I did the whole workout without stopping to rest. A first for me. My hour was over and I headed for the grocery. Went right past the cookies, candy, bakery etc. and filled my cart with healthy things. The muscles in my legs hurt...just like they did when we did calisthenics in high school. That's to be expected at my age. I really need to get some cute exercise clothes though :) My old pants and shirts and worn tennies look rather odd. Kind of like my old get up when I garden :) Oh, well...guess they can call me a character.

Good for you Balisha! This rain is really getting to us but certainly not as bad as in the southern states,

I'm proud of you, Balisha. I'm proud of you both, in fact. I wish I could get motivated to do some exercise but I just can't. The best I can do is take Slinky for an occasional brisk walk.

Virginia Bluebell is one of my favorite native flowers. I didn't have as many this year. I'm sure that drought last summer is the reason, even though they were watered occasionally. They like moist conditions, so I've read.
