A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

My plant of the Year

I was reading a post from Eileen at this morning. She picked out her plant of the year. I thought that I would copy and do the same. My plant of the year would have to be the Lily. Such an easy care plant and the Japanese Beetles don't seem to bother them much. That's a plus for me. These orange lilies are the first to open in my yard. I have big clumps of them in several places. They are the flower that made me reconsider "orange" in my garden. Here is a white lily. An Easter lily saved from the compost bin after weeks on our Church Altar.

This was purchased in a bag of surprise lilies. I didn't know what color they would be. I bought them at WalMart...the label had come off and it was just lying there in a bin. I brought it home and planted it...maybe it will be healthier this year.

An then my favorites the Stargazer Lily...‘Stargazer’ is the best known lily in the world, with upfacing crimson flowers with a white edge. Such a sturdy flower for bouquets in the house.

The last lily is a pass a long gift from an old friend from years back. It traveled with my to my home 8 yrs. ago. It just blooms and blooms. I like the buds as well...in bouquets. Tough as nails plant that the worst weather never affects it's beauty.

I think that I may buy a few more lilies this spring. They are easy care and fill in where there is a bare spot. I never liked lilies until I reached a "certain age." Now I don't know what I would do without them in my garden.

Don't you just love lilies? As you may know they are one of my favorites too. The Stargazers are so pretty. I just love the peach colored ones Balisha.I long to see them bloom again and will add a few new ones to add to the garden each year.

What beautiful flowers! I have just a few day lilies--this post made me anxious to see how they have grown in a few months!
