A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Thoughts on a Rainy Day

Trying to plan my weekend. The rain is coming down...blessed rain. Everything will get a much needed drink and the place where I will plant the tulip bulbs will get a soaking and be much easier to dig. I think that I will go out tomorrow and push back the mulch and dig out a place for them. I hope that I like these Angelique tulips. They are a soft orange and may blend with my more garish orange lilies. I don;'t have the bulbs yet, but they are on order. When the things die back in my front garden, I may plant a few minor bulbs in little nooks and crannies. I love the muscari in the spring.....and little snowdrops by a rock just popping their heads up in the snow. Next year I will plant more things for bouquets. Since doing a bouquet of the month...an idea by Noelle at http://www.azplantlady.com/. This year I found that my bouquets weren't very interesting and I had to really search for flowers and leaves to use. I have a long bare space, next to the house....going down the west side, where there is just mulch. I think that a row of zinnias would be nice there. They are pretty stiff plants and probably wouldn't lop over onto the lawn...for mowing. I ordered Cut and Come Again zinnia seeds to plant there. I hope to plant Merlot lettuce somewhere. I love the ruby red of this lettuce. Almost too pretty to pick. Ahhh, ideas are going around in my head. We gardeners are always looking ahead to the next season. I seemed to have rushed right by Old Man Winter. After last year can you blame me? I saw a weather forecast that showed the jet stream last year in the fall....this year looks to be the same. An El Nina winter with snow and cold. I'm looking for the closest cave to hibernate in.

I'm afraid you are correct, Balisha. I fear this will be another hard winter.

There are no hard winters in Southern Californa. Hard winters here is if we get a hard frost and lose some of our orange trees..so some of our plants...
I've seen streets in Bakersfield California blackened by frost...
well..not the streets themselves.. :) but to us, that is a hard winter.
Balisha dear, what sort of camera do you have. I am wanting a Cannon Rebel...but not at all sure of exactly which one.
Do you have any ideas...I need something simple...and I do love your photo's...are you happy with yours?

I guess we will get what Mother Nature gives us.

Elenka..I love to read your back and forth comments with your Birdman.
As for my comment...I think that I was just looking out for Joe and didn't want him to miss anything:)
