A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Getting Ready for Surgery

Yesterday found me in the kitchen most of the day. I am preparing freezer meals for when Joe is in the hospital. I know from experience that when someone is hospitalized it is a busy time for the person left at home. Visiting everyday, phone calls at night and when they come home...you have to have time to take care of the person. So I always plan ahead. It's just how I am. I made vegetable beef soup in the crockpot (3 meals), beef stew (3 meals), chop suey (2 meals...we ate one of them yesterday) and today I have a couple of pork roasts in the crockpot for bbq. We have bean soup, chili, mostaccioli and a couple of things that I'm forgetting. Would you say that I have enough food for an army?Trouble is...I love to cook and I really get in gear when I have to. I love the counter filled with veggies all chopped and ready to put in a pan. The meat is secondary to me. I could eat just vegetables and maybe chicken or fish once in a while. I'm married to a former meat cutter and there is nothing he loves more than seeing the freezer full of different cuts of meat. So, we compromise....I fix food with meat and then have lots of veggies. I eat a little meat and load up on the other stuff. We both love soups.....and eat them even in warm weather. So my husband will be a happy camper and can have what he is hungry for.
I have already figured out how to do my gardening while he is recuperating. I'll just carry my cell phone, when I'm out in the yard or on the front porch.
I have ordered 5 books from Amazon. They are what they call "vacation books...beach books" fast reading and suited to a woman. We got a new TV on the wall in the bedroom and we can watch all the new movies while resting.
I have countless projects to start...some for Christmas. I may do some of those. I have a couple of baby afghans to finish by Sept.
We just got the carpets cleaned and the house is spic and span. I think that we will do OK. I'll have lots of time to help Joe get well....if he can wait till I finish posting in my blog each day :)

I would say that you are well prepared. That is a lot of food.
When family was home I cooked a lot but now cooking for one is a challenge. Thinking of you and what will be happening in the future weeks.

Sounds like you have things under control especially the food part! I am like you. I love getting out all the ingredients and making something out of them. Do you think Joe will stop smoking for good? I hope he does. I quit about seven years ago. I don't miss it at all now and feel 100 percent better. It is very hard for some people to quit though. My sister smokes like a chimney!

Best wishes to Joe for successful surgery and recouperation. It sounds like you're well prepared to take care of him with all that delicious homemade food Balisha. I'll be thinking of you both.

Well I can certainly relate to this. You sound like you have far more energy than I do at the moment though.
I am thinking I must have missed something while not visiting so much. Do hope there is nothing serious with your husband Balisha. Prayers going your direction too.
