A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Snoopy Coming in for a Landing...and I was There

I listened to the news last night. They were talking about a blimp coming into our airport to be tethered for the night. It was the blimp from Met Life...with Snoopy as their logo. Hubby didn't want to go see it...no kids around to go with me...what should I do? I hopped in my little red car and took off for the airport. It sounded interesting to me. When I arrived at the airport, the blimp went right over the top of my car. I had the sun roof open and I swear the pilot waved at me. I pulled alongside the road with lots of other people and got out to watch the show.
The pictures are better if you click them. I have always been fascinated by blimps. When I was a kid, the Goodyear blimp came over every summer. We kids would run out to watch. It was up pretty high, but this one went right over the top of the car.

The little kids were thrilled to see Snoopy flying high. It's so funny, it seems everyone has a camera now. Most everyone was squinting and holding up their cameras to get a shot. He must have gone over 100 times. I think he was waiting for his crew to come to tether him. They said on the news, that they don't secure it tightly...it can go around and around on it's tether. The skies were darkening and I wondered about what they do in case of a wind storm.

The above picture is Snoopy coming down for a landing. Finally after about an hour of gliding around. The ground crew ran out and tied him down. By now the road was lined completely with cars full of people.

This is what the sky looked like, when I got home. I thought about Snoopy as I went to sleep last night. I hoped that the blimp would be safe at our airport. Things like this really entertain me. I can remember many things in my life that made me drop everything so I could go see. My husband used to call home and say, "It's going to be a beautiful sunset tonight...I'll pick you up" Or...while I was at work I'd get a call, "Can you leave for a couple of minutes...there's a strange bird in the yard." Or..."Run down to the railroad tracks the circus train is coming through town." Or, " They're tearing a building down in town....bring the Grand kids." I used to love spontaneous things. I'm losing a bit of that now, as I age, but last night...nothing could make me miss Snoopy.

I forgot to look for it. They even reminded us on the news. I always used to call them shooting stars.. I had never seen so many until I moved here. No lines in the way...just open sky.

I am the same way, I have dragged teenagers out of bed for rides for a better look at sunrises, laid in the middle of a field one night for the northern lights. Snoopy? I would have been there, grandkids in tow, they LOVE Snoopy!

How fun. I would love to see the Snoopy blimp. I saw the Goodyear blimp once long ago and still remember it.

Somethings in life are free...and sometimes they are the best. Kids will remember those spur of the moments with you as much as a well planned vacation. Do any of you remember sky writers? Joe and I were just talking about them yesterday. It seems we would always see them in the summer.

Hi. I dropped in here after reading your squirrel comment on Sullivan & Murphy's site. I laughed out loud over that rather forward squirrel.
I truly believe the dishes can wait and the laundry too. Life is for living not for regretting.
