The Blue Shoe by Balisha
It was a very hot and sultry day..
I wiped my brow..but no time to play.
Out of control were the flower beds..
The Daisies were nodding their worried heads.
It seems the Nettle was creeping near...
Encircling the Daisies without any fear.
The Nettle meandered wild and free..
The Jack in the Pulpit just wanted to see...
The Hens and Chicks..all of them.
The Chicks were there, but where was the Hen?
I looked and looked and suddenly spied..
The Hen with Sweet William...my oh my.
The Zinnias were in a tizzy too..
The Hen had escaped the little blue shoe.
She was in a different garden spot..
She wanted to be where the earth is hot.
I bent way down with my trowel so black..
And scooped her up and put her back.
The Lilies in the garden gave me a cheer..
Their friend the Hen was safe and near.
I saw the Nettle crawling over to see..
Twisting and turning ever so free.
I took my trowel and gave a fast chop..
The Nettle was struck and fell with a plop.
The little Hen was safely at home..
Never again would she want to roam.
Her home was the shoe...she decided to stay..
She learned her lesson that hot sultry day.
The nettle decided to turn around quick..
Or Balisha would chop it..lickety split.
Now a lesson we learn in the garden today..
You each have a home..the best place to stay.
