A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

It's May Day!

Do you remember May baskets? We would make these little baskets out of construction paper and fill them with flowers. Then they would go home with us...we would put them on our Mom's doorknob...ring the bell and hide. It was a simple pleasure from long ago. I have friends who along with me, continued this practice when we were adults. We would fix up some baskets and deliver them early in the morning...so the basket would be there, when the friend woke up. It was really funny...we were all in our cars, driving around, almost bumping into each other to deliver these treasures. A friend put a poem in her basket to me years and years ago. It says:
Oh, let's leave a basket of flowers today..
To a dear friend who lives down our way..
We'll heap it with violets white and blue..
We'll make it of paper and line it with ferns..
Then hide and we'll watch her surprise when she turns..
And opens her door and looks out to see..
Who in the world could it possibly be.
Happy May Day!

What a wonderful tradition! I remember, as kids, we used to bring our mothers small nosegays of Mayflowers -- their sweet scent would fill the house for days. I'm not sure if that was a May Dad thing or not...I think not. :) Great, happy memories.

What a nice tradition Balisha. I heard of this on another post, not something I was familiar with. :)
