A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Autumn Blaze Maple

A couple of years ago, my husband was looking at all the beautiful colors in the fall. He told me that he had always wanted a red maple in the yard. I try to listen to people, during the year, talking about things that they would like to have. I put this in my memory bank and then at the right time, went out to select a tree. I wanted it to be a surprise for his Christmas present. I was able to keep it a surprise and on a cold Saturday morning the nursery delivered an Autumn Blaze Maple tree. I should have taken this picture two days ago, as the tree was completely full and gorgeous. Now there are lots of leaves on the ground. You can get an idea of how nice it is and how much it has grown.
Before I gave him his present, he said to me one time, "It is silly to plant small trees at our age. We haven't long here and we will never see the tree grown." I have a different view. I love to watch plants grow from a tiny seed. It is such a miracle. The same goes for trees.
I planted a maple tree on arbor day in 1944. Until it was hit by lightning....I went back to my old neighborhood... each year to see my tree.
He is so pleased with this tree now and really gives it tender loving care. We are going to watch this tree grow as long as we are here. We will enjoy it each fall, no matter what size it is. People who live here after us, will be glad that we planted that little maple... I think.

Hi Balisha...
I can't explain why find this post calmly poignant... :)

The tree is indeed lovely. We don't experience such magnificent changes in colors in the leaves of trees here... of course since we don't have autumn... :)

Be well always...

Hi Coolwaterworks,
I'm pleased that it affected you that way. My thought everyday... is to try to be positive and to look forward. So many people of my age look backwards so much of their time, thinking they were the good old days. I enjoyed my past, but I feel that the good old days are right now.
Planting a small tree kind of gives you hope and something to look forward to each year at this time.
I wish that everyone could experience the beauty of our autumn.
Thanks for reading.
