A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Cup of Tea

We've had a security alert in our country and embassies are closed in different parts of the world. It seems that terrorism has reared it's ugly head once again. The government is doing what they feel is necessary. All we can do is go on with our daily living...paying heed to anything different happening around us. Terrorism works... even if nothing happens. People are held hostage by fear. That's what they want to do.So let's not bow down to terrorism...let's all say a prayer, relax, and have a cup of tea.

Chamomile tea is what I drink most of the time. It comes for the little chamomile flowers that grow in many herb gardens. They can line a path and grow in between stepping stones. It is used for teas, tossed in a salad, or put in tiny sachets. They say that it soothes and calms. When I have had something troubling on my mind...it's what I always reach for. Maybe just the ritual of warming the water, choosing a favorite tea cup, brewing the tea and drinking it in a cozy place in the house...is what calms me. I don't have a clue why it works that way...I only know that generations of women in my family have used this herb for relaxation.
I have a Keurig coffee pot that brews tea as well. I can pop in a K cup and brew a cup in minutes. I love this machine.....but the calming ritual is missing and during the night...the old method is used. Sometimes a shortbread cookie is eaten with my tea, or a biscotti dunked in the cup is nice. I've found that most men don't like tea of any kind. Maybe they think that it's a wimpy drink and really don't give it a chance.
I drink many different kinds of tea, but chamomile is my favorite.

Having a cup of tea from my Keurig this morning - I love the convenience too, but sometimes make it with my special tea bags too :-)

Hi Balisha,

I drink hot tea more during the winter. During the summer I use plain old Lipton tea bags and make iced tea every week. We like it plain, no sugar.

I envy your ability to paint. I think that would be such a creative outlet.

By the way, I just finished making your Applebee's salad dressing for the 3rd time since you posted the recipe a couple of weeks ago. We love it on all kinds of chicken/fruit salads. Tonight we are going to have a grilled peach/chicken/feta cheese salad. My husband asked me to make your dressing for it. Thanks so much for that post!

I hope you and Joe are having a wonderful weekend.

I am mostly a coffee drinker but I love a cup of tea for comfort or if I'm ill. And I make my own ice tea in the summer, a pitcher almost every day. My brother in law is from Ireland and having tea in the morning and after meals is the norm. When he comes to the lake, he brings his favorite tea. It's very sweet.

I am not much of a tea drinker, but I love the sweet gardeny scent of chamomile tea. It smells just like a sunny morning in the garden to me.

I make an interesting kind of tea. I use the Chai tea for Keurig and then sweeten it with Bailey's French Vanilla flavoring for coffee. It's non alcoholic. Baileys is the best tasting French Vanilla flavoring I've found. This is a sweet treat for afternoon.I love to experiment with different teas and flavorings.

Chamomile tea is also soothing for the tummy. I'm a coffee drinker, but I always start the day with a couple cups of tea.

Thanks for visiting my blog--it's funny you mentioned Rockford, because my best friend and I are hoping to visit the Japanese garden there in a couple of weeks. Someone who is very knowledgeable about Japanese gardens told me that it is now ranked the #1 Japanese garden in the U.S., a notch higher than the Portland garden. This I have to see!

Where in the world did you ever get that layered pot your geranium is growing in? I LOVE IT!!! My grandma too had people living with her--sisters from a poor neighborhood family, came to stay while in high school and they helped her in the house and the farm and she paid their expenses--all 4 of them at one time or other. I don't drink hot tea--I am a hot cocoa drinker in the morning, and iced tea during the day. My grandma and her mother always drank hot tea--they put a little in the saucer, the blow on it to cool it and then sip from the saucer, LOL.
