A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

A Favorite Thing Saturday

It's favorite thing Saturday again. I'll bet many will be showing something to do with Christmas this week. I've been visiting all around blogland during the week and touches of Christmas are showing up everywhere. Some are decorated inside and out.....trees in many rooms and the sweet smells of Christmas baking already coming out of their kitchens. I have a hard time picking out a favorite this week. I have bins and bins of Christmas decorations. We've downsized our decorating and many favorites didn't make the cut....but there is one thing that has been in my "holiday house" for many, many years. It's a little worn out, plastic Santa. Just a tiny little man, who has a new place to sit every year. His beard is stretched out and thinning, his felt suit is getting tattered, one of his boots falls off, if I'm not careful, and his hat has lost it's pom pom. Many would just give him a toss...but I will never do that. He belonged to my wonderful mother-in-law and I fell heir to him after she died along with so many pretty things.I have no idea how old he is. He wasn't ever her favorite or anyone else's, for that matter.......but he is a favorite of mine.
Claudia is hosting this week. Go over and see some of the favorites of many bloggers. It's so much fun to see what is a favorite for someone. You can find her at   http://mockingbirdhillcottage.com/ .You can join us too, it's easy to do. Just follow the directions at Claudia's.
Thanks for visiting, Balisha

Oh...what a sweet story! He's precious. I think it just naturally come to us as we get older to organize our lives and downsize so that we can squeeze all the pleasures out of life without being burdened by material things. At least that's the way I feel. My Dad passed away two years ago right before Christmas. I was so honored to choose some of my parents ornaments...mostly vintage as I grew up with them. lol! My heart flutters when I see them at Christmas time and I feel a little sad at the same time. I guess for us middle agers, Christmas is about memories and making memories.

XO,
Jane

Oh I love him--probably because he is a treasure from long ago. i love the old things I have received from my mother or grandmother--decorations that were in the house when I was a kid! Merry Christmas!

I bet your MIL would feel so good to know how you treasure this item. I love family heirloom stories like this one.

Sometimes the most ordinary items become the most cherished memories. His story is heart-warming.

I love his tattered beauty. To me, these are the best decorations, those that have a story and have been passed down from loved ones. He deserves that place of honor that he has in your home, Balisha.

Thanks so much for joining in this week!

He is lovely. I can see why you've kept him. He deserves to be a favourite! I have a Santa too, will show him next Saturday. He is with us the whole year but has a prominent place during advent and christmas. Have a nice weekend. Regula

It takes so much time to get around and see all the favorites and leave a short comment. I find myself having a hard time answering your comments here. Not wanting to neglect you...who take the time to stop and read...I just want to thank you for coming. The weekends just got a whole lot busier for us....but I don't want to miss a thing.
