I spotted it across the aisle.. when shopping for some seed..
It was a bag all made of mesh....something I would need.\
A treat for many finches, who Joe and I both love..
I bought it thinking of those birds and hung it high above.
It wasn't long before I saw sparrows hanging on for food..
A squirrel next was eating...I thought it was so rude.
I shooed them off and sat to watch and then they all returned..
The little finches had no chance ..their pleading was just spurned.
They sat in Blue and on the rail...just waiting for their time...
It never came..it seems I'd bought a treat for other kinds.
I felt so bad.. I turned around to leave the window view...
When glancing back I saw the finches eating some seed too.
They didn't sit upon the bag or waste their time in pleading...
The coneflowers I had left were full of finches feeding.
The moral of this story.. is not to spend your money..
Feeding friendly squirrels who might be very chummy.
They get enough from feeders and things around the yard..
They fill their tummys with scattered seed...it isn't very hard.
Their antics provide some lively fun on feeders big and small...
They seem to know when food is there and when to make a call.
The sock will not be filled again..by me or anyone..
Whoever eats a meal from it...will never have to run
They can eat to heart's content and empty it today..
Be it bird or hungry squirrel......and that's all I have to say.

Balisha, I like these and need to pick up some for Fall.
My birds seemed to have
disappeared
Wonder where they are ?
Funny. Nice poem.
Ah, when winter comes all creatures need a helping hand.
It gives me such pleasure to watch them from a warm kitchen.
your poetry is great as always.
