Mums in front of the evergreens.
Here's the Cranberry bush after a trim by Joe..
You really don't want to see pictures of my fall cleanup do you? I didn't think so...so I put a picture here of my mums across the front evergreens. Much prettier! I have, however, been doing some fall cleanup. Yesterday, it was so beautiful out so that after a fall drive, I stayed out in the yard and did a few things. Why does one thing lead to another? I never know quite when to stop....but yesterday I didn't overdo, I guess...nothing hurt last night. I started out by trimming our American Cranberry in front of the house. It grows more than Joe would like. He wants it to stay at window height and itwants to grow up to the roof! He slaughtered it in the spring...cut it into a square shape :( I hated it all through the summer. I decided to wait till the leaves were mostly off and then give it a shaping. I cut out all the inner branches and many, many water sprouts.....leaving only the main branches. Then I took the clippers and shaped the bush a little more rounded. I would like it to stay like this. I intend to keep at it in the coming year...if Joe doesn't dig it up :( I think that I can make this into a more presentable shaped bush. I guess I needed a picture here.
Then I went to my little Mary's garden and did a cleanup there. The hostas were cut down...I usually leave them to turn yellow, but this year they look pretty bad, so I cut them off. I went around the yard with the wheel barrow and picked up my lawn decorations. All the bunnies, my gnome, watering cans, and many other things were put away for winter.
I moved the bird feeder closer to the office window. I love to sit here at my computer and watch the birds outside my window. I just told Joe that I hope my little Titmouse comes to this feeder again. I'm looking out and there is a pair of them sitting on the feeder and checking me out through the window. I do love these little birds and I'm beside myself that they are back.
Today is cloudy and rain might come. I still have energy left...I want to go out and do a little more. Maybe God is telling me to rest, by sending rain.

I hope to get my final clean up done this week too. Hope you are able to have a relaxing week :-)
I have often considered rain a way of God's making us rest and recharge. Those American cranberry bushes do get large, Balisha. I think you and Joe might be fighting a losing battle. Has it ever bloomed and made berries for the birds? Probably not if you have to keep pruning it. The shade has become so deep where mine are that they do not bloom much. Thank you for the reminder: I should bring indoors my little concrete bunny. Are those your Belgian Mums? We have Titmice, too. They are so perky and saucy!
Hi vicki and Barbee...
I hope to have a somewhat relaxing week ahead. My final cleanup will probably be done this week.
I really don't like shrubbery trimmed into little boxes and balls. I prefer a more natural look with branches allowed to do what they want. That's why I love vines so much....I suppose. This shrub has never bloomed or made berries. It was placed under the office window so that I could see the birds enjoying it. It now serves as a resting place for many little birds after they eat at the feeder. We've had a few nests in it too and last year the Possum used it to climb into the feeder. I know it wants to grow, but Joe doesn't like the overgrown shrubs that hide the windows and the front of so many houses. Maybe we'll have to move it and put something lower and more controlled there. We'll see, but for now, I got to trim a shrub and had some fun doing that.
They are the Belgian mums, Barbee. They are my faithful fall flowers.

Everything looks neat and tidy...that's a good feeling, isn't it? We are having gloom and rain today, too. And some thunder thrown in for good measure. I was hoping to take a long walk and enjoy the changing leaves, but I'm a day late!
Happy Monday, Balisha!
XO,
Jane
