It's raining it's pouring,
The old man is snoring.
He went to bed and bumped his head,
And couldn't get up in the morning.
3:30 AM the weather radio is warning us of a coming storm. It was just a watch in So. Wisconsin. I knew from watching the weather last night, that we were to get some bad weather by about 4:30 this morning. A big red and yellow mass was in the north and one more to our west.....so, I wasn't surprised when the radio went off. I went back to sleep and then it sounded again...this time a little closer to us...we were in the path. I knew that I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, so I got up and dressed. The radio sounded again and this time I woke Joe just in case we had to go to the basement. The trees were bending to the ground and the rain was sweeping down the road, along with small branches of trees. I love to sit by the doors and watch storms come in. I know you are supposed to stay away from windows and doors, but I don't always follow the rules : ) The storm blew in fast and left just as fast.....giving us much needed rain. Even though it wasn't enough...we are thankful....no watering today. So, can't go outside...guess I'll continue my job in the kitchen. Taking advantage of the hot weather and wanting to stay in the house...I have been cleaning out cupboards in the kitchen. "Marrying" packages of the same crackers etc. Putting everything in plastic containers and bags. I like to keep things in plastic...because of the problem with tiny visitors during the summer. Where do they come from? I swear they come from the stores...right in the bags of flour, cornmeal, and bisquick. Next came the pantry, where we keep the canned goods. Everything in a row so I will be able to find things in a hurry. My spice cabinet was next....things I use often on the bottom shelf, things used occasionally on the middle, and on the top shelf goes the backup spices. The door shelves are used for baking things...cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice etc. This morning I cleaned the lower cabinets. I do the same with pots and pans. The things that are used most are in front and the seldom used to the back. When this was done a quick swipe with a paper towel and windex on my appliances and I'm done for another month. It's hard keeping a kitchen when there are two cooks. What Joe thinks is indispensable can be seldom used by me. He likes certain utensils...so my utensil drawers are always in a mess. We have a few squabbles over...."Where is this, where did you put this, did you throw my _____ away, or are our good knives in the dishwasher? I said that it's hard sometimes, but well worth the inconvenience when he says that he is going to cook and serves me a delicious meal. Two cooks can coexist in the kitchen. Between the two of us...he will have the hardest time, because I clean the kitchen, so I get dibs on where things go.

Ha, pretty cute! Glad you got some rain even if it did come in a blast of excitement. We had about 3 inches Thursday, and then Friday another 4. Couldn't believe it! We needed it for sure, but that was an awful lot to get in such a few hours.
They say rainy days are for gardners so they can get their house cleaned... I did the same last week only on my bedroom closet and a hall closet. I can see the floor in both now and all my yarn is in one place where I can see what I have...LOL To much yarn to little time!
We have been waiting for rain for a week. They keep predicting storms, but somehow they bypass us.
We really need rain! My front grass is dying. Hopefully we get it tonight.
I also like to spend rainy days getting organized inside the house.
Funny, I was watching the weather channel early this morning and saw those storms coming across the country and they said that they might head to Illinois and Indiana and I actually thought of you!!!
Glad that they didn't turn out that bad.
Love your trellis idea.
Oh my goodness, what a storm! Spent long hot hours picking up after that mess!
I wish my pantry was clean. Heck, I wish my pantry had something in it!
Sounds like a real storm and glad it passed quickly. We have had a fair bit of rain recently but not enough to take us out of drought conditions here in the south east. Only high of 63f today after being 91f two weeks ago.
