A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Where Was I This Morning?

Yesterday we went shopping at Valli Produce in Rockford. We fill our car with fruits and veggies and then come home...and I wash it all, cut some of it up, package things for the freezer, and get pooped putting all this food away. Finding room for everything is a job in itself. It lasts us for about two weeks and then we go again.
This morning I was to report to Church to help these three ladies set up for the going away party for our Priest tomorrow. It will be his last Sunday with us and we want things to be really special. Barb's car was loaded with fresh fruit, cheeses, bagels, cookies, crackers, trail mix, coffee cakes, and the makings for lemonade and coffee. We unloaded the car...bringing in bags of melons. We had watermelons, cantaloupes, honey dew, kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, grapes, and pineapples. These all had to be washed, and cut up, and arranged in colorful bowls. Tomorrow they will be put on trays and decorated with strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi. We have done this before and know all the tricks to make it go faster. The tables are all set with floral centerpieces to be made tomorrow. A table with a guest book and a basket for cards is by the door. So, I kind of felt like home there this morning as I worked doing much the same as I did yesterday in my own kitchen....only this is on a much bigger scale. We work well together and have fun joking and talking to make the time go by faster. We love summer parties...the tables look so festive with all the bright colors. I hope that he enjoys his last days here with us. We will miss him terribly, but will welcome a new Priest with joy.

Hello there Balisha !
you are so much better at getting these chores done than I am .. husband did the grapes, haha.
It seems like a never ending process trying to prepare food .. just as you start to relax it is time for another shopping trip and prep duty ? haha
Like laundry ... I don't mind putting it in the washer and dryer but folding and putting away is a pain!LOL ..
I'm sure your priest will appreciate all of the effort to make his going away so wonderful!

I love, love fresh fruit and that all looks so good. I sure could pig out in that fridge. I was reading about your cowbird and it made me think of a book I have. The book has nothing to do with a cowbird really but it is a good book. It is called The Legacy of the Cowbird by Betty Stuart Baird. It is about the hill country of Eastern Kentucky and a great read if you are ever looking for something. It is raining and cool here today for June. I am enjoying having the windows open. My tomato plants and garden stuff is loving this rain and looking good. I got my first green onion the other day and just brought it in and cleaned it and put it right in the crockpot with my fiesta chicken. lol. Have a great week.
