A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Sunday Thoughts and a Recipe

These are the treats that I made yesterday afternoon. They were really easy to put together. Here is the recipe... 12 oz. of chocolate chips 2 cups chow mein noodles 2 cups rice krispies jelly beans Melt the chips in a double boiler, then add noodles and krispies. Drop by tablespoon fulls on waxed paper and put 3 jelly beans in the "nest" They set up well without refrigeration, but if you need them in a hurry....put in the fridg. My son and grandkids were here a couple of weeks ago and showed me the recipe in the newspaper. I said that I had made them...years ago. They look really cute fixed up with Easter grass in a basket. I'm taking them to John today for his birthday is next week and we are planning on meeting him today for lunch. Now, bear with me.....my last picture of an Amaryllis. This happens to be my favorite of all. Very delicate and dainty.....beautiful coloring....smaller bloom that the rest and a rerun from several years ago. I looked closely at this flower...see how perfect the petals are edged in red? Each blossom is basically the same...How can you look at the perfection of flowers and not believe in a Higher Being? They are miracles I think. Charisma (gift of grace) is her name and she spends her summers in my garden outside. A very reliable plant. Isn't she pretty? Now they have all bloomed and it is Palm Sunday. I started showing my amaryllis plants in Dec. and they took me through the whole winter and early spring with flowers in my house. I bought two new ones this year and had 4 or 5 reruns. So much pleasure for a small amount of money.
The weather today is still cold. I noticed that our side yard is full of branches and twigs from the River Birch...again. The wind was fierce yesterday. Coming home from Mass last night was especially hard. The wind could almost blow you over and there was snow in the air. People were bundled in their winter coats with scarves around their necks. I bought a new purple spring coat... made of boiled wool this year. I don't usually get much use out of a spring coat, because we tend to go right into summer weather here, but this year is different.

Our Church looked beautiful last night and on Monday we change the red Altar cloths back to violet. We have several days this week of changing the Altar...looking forward to Easter Sunday with all the beautiful flowers on the Altar. I'll be sure to take pictures of the whole procedure and the final outcome. Last year the delivery boy from the greenhouse had to bring in one truckload of flowers and go back to the store to get another load for our Sanctuary. He kept bringing them in two by two. Here we were with all these lilies, hydrangeas, tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils....trying to find a place for them all. We really need workers that day...I'm saying a little prayer that many show up. I know that pride isn't always a good thing, but when I sit there in our pew and look around me....I think that I am so proud to have helped make God's Church a little more beautiful.

I want some of these, too. Little chocolate bird's nests with the eggs in them. They are so cute. I just love them. Your amaryllis is just beautiful. Hope you have a good week.

There is nothing wrong with feeling proud that you helped to beautify your church for the holiday. I am excited to see your pictures.

Charisma is a stunner. How wonderful that you had enough flowers to get you through the whole winter.

I have never made those Easter treats, but I am sure they are good. They certainly look perfect for the holiday.
