A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

More snow...appointments cancelled and we are home again for the day.  I have plenty to do, but Joe is getting bored with his situation. As soon as people start feeling better...they tend to want to move ahead faster. Yesterdays, appointment at the Doctor's was his first outing since surgery and I thought it would do him a world of good. Winter is a terrible time to recover from surgery. At least in the summer...there's the front porch and neighborhood goings on... to keep one entertained. He has it all...big screen TVs in bedroom and living room, books galore, the computer, telephone, exercises to do, but he looks out the window and just feels trapped...with the snow coming down. He's not known for his patience even in normal times.Normally he's up and out of here, when ever he needs to get away.A trip to Rockford to shop for us, a visit with an old friend, a stop at the Church to see what's going on   I think you get it. I'm very contented right here at home. I do think that women entertain themselves better than men. When a spouse dies, women get along much better than men. That comes from our taking care of the children and the house, while men are out earning a living. We have kitchen work to do, cleaning, laundry, all manner of household things to keep us busy. I suppose with women working outside the home...that has changed somewhat, but I still see women doing it all....in my neighborhood. Well, back to Joe....I just suggested that he work on a photo album that he wanted to start...he just gave me a look. He left the room and started doing his exercises.Well, the visiting therapist told him that he would be about 3 months before he is back to normal... and that is what we are dealing with. Ahhhhh spring... can it come any sooner this year?

I'm back.... Just saw three squirrels together at the feeder. I know that they live together during the winter in what is called a drey or leaf nest...or a hole in the tree. They have put on layers of fat during the fall months and have a thick coat to protect them. They hole up for a good part of the winter...venturing out on a warmer day, to look for food. They hide food in holes in the ground...not finding all of their stash, but enough to survive. When you see a small tree coming up or a flower in the middle of the yard...you know that a squirrel has probably planted it. The female is in heat and several males come around. After mating...the males leave and she is on her own. She has young twice a year. So, right about now...the females that you see are probably pregnant. So, these happy little ones are out scampering up and down the Ash tree... outside my window. They have visited the feeder several times and now it's time for play. We have, what I think is a squirrel nest in our woods. High up in the tree, I can imagine this trio being rocked to sleep under a cozy, fluffy, blanket of fur.

Balisha does Joe play any computer games ?

That might be something to do...for instance Zuma is a fun little casual game. You can get free trials of games online and see if you like them. I have Zuma on my computer...I beat it once now I can't get past a certain level / my son says they played it all the time when he was in Iraq.

Same way here. DH (dear husband) likes to get out more than I do! Our cold has "let up" and we've had some high 50 days. Hope you get some soon.

Oh, Balisha! I went about three weeks over the holidays without checking many blogs or staying caught-up at all, so I'm beyond late saying I wish him a smooth recovery--and I wish you patience! "He just gave me a look" says it all. The recuperation time is always hard on both in a relationship.

Love and Prayers,

Val

I hope Joe can find something he enjoys to occupy his recuperation time.

Oh my where does the time go!It's been a while since I visited. Actually I giggled when I saw your daylight saving time notice at the top of your blog. I am so ready for spring now...even though we really haven't ventured out much for the usual winter activities. We usually are out walking the trails and even got snow shoes this year, but it has been way too cold! Dreaming about spring helps! Wishing you and your hubby the best during his recovery.

It seems that you and I have had similar weather patterns this winter. It's one thing when it's cold but the slick conditions made it treacherous to be out and about. We've had some days of warmer temperatures and rain, so most of the snow has melted. I am sending good weather thoughts your way so you and Joe can get out soon!

I think women also do better when they retire. Men have their work. Women, no matter what age or stage, ALWAYS have something to do--housework or hobbies. Widows ALWAYS get along better then widowers. When I had my hip surgery, they said nine months before I would be fully healed and able to do everything. It usually takes 6 weeks before being able to do minor things around the house--and not suppose to bend over until 6 weeks out. I still occasionally have a pain in the surgical area--doc said it takes a loooong time for those cut nerves and tendons to settle down.

I think you are right about men and patience they have so little of it. He looks good and is moving around so he must be on the mend.
You make the squirrels sound good and yes we have one of those big nests in our woods too very high up. They can take over pretty fast if you let them.
