A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Monday Morning

It looks like Christmas out this morning. Snow fell for most of the day yesterday...leaving our part of the world in a blanket of white. As I look out, the sun is trying to come out and I can see sparkles on the snow. No footprints in our yard except the freshly plowed driveway and sidewalk. I'm up early and started doing the kitchen cupboards. After our celebration last Sunday, things were just stashed to get them out of the way. Today they are back in their places. A cup of coffee and a slice of pecan coffee cake helped as I worked away. Maybe I'll go down to the basement to tidy up there later on.

I'm going to put my two cents in on Carrie Underwood's performance in Sound of Music last week. She is so talented and took on something new for her. I was delighted to see her do this, because she seemed to be in a rut of singing songs that talked of two timing men and love gone wrong songs. She was able to show what she could do with her voice...in a new way. I'll have to admit that The Sound of Music is one of my favorite movies.....and my goodness Julie Andrews is tough to compete with. Why should there have to  be a comparison? Two different performances....and Carrie did a wonderful job.  I enjoyed her performance and really feel badly that so many are so critical. It seems that once a bad review is given so many jump on the band wagon...afraid to give a different opinion.

We'll have leftovers today...Our pot roast will give us one more meal...so I will have a little more free time today. I might just make a few more cookies. Those delicious coconut layer cookies with Eagle Brand milk. Then again...those would really tempt Joe and he's done so well with his diet.

We have been faithful with going to the pool three times a week, but with the roads the way they are this morning...we won't be going today. Each day we have that December 26th surgery looming in the back of our minds. This has been such a long wait. Joe won't be able to have anymore pain meds for two weeks before surgery.

I just saw a little chickadee flying up and down on the feeder...trying to get at the seed under the snow. First little footprints in the snow this morning. He's singing his little chicka dee dee dee song...flying from feeder to tree. I wonder is he trying to tell me something?

Well, that's about it...maybe more later. Have a great day.

I agree with you on the criticism of Carrie Underwood. I have read the tv program was based on the stage play - not the movie. Two very different things!
Some people just get their kicks knocking other people's efforts. I loved her answer to the nay sayers!

So nice to see your comments re: Carrie Underwood's performance. My thought is that another generation/ group of people might be willing to watch this version of SOM because she was in it, and they will enjoy the beautiful and timeless music. It doesn't seem right that once a performance is deemed "amazing", such as Julie Andrew's (and it WAS), that it means no one else can ever attempt the role again. As a side note, wasn't Audra McDonald absolutely awesome?? "Climb Every Mountain" was breathtaking!!
Tell Joe that the relief he will have after the surgery will be wonderful. The 2 weeks before, when you can't take anything is hard, but, again in the end he will be thankful he finally had it done. Prayers to him and you.

Hi Chris and Marlu,
When she said, "Mean people need Jesus" I almost applauded.

I enjoyed Audra McDonald's beautiful performance of "Climb Every Mountain" She sang it again for the Christmas at Rockefeller Center.
Thanks for your comments on this program.

Balisha,
I too love the Sound of Music, in fact this past Summer my Father in Law and I watched it several times.
I like your festive colors and seasonal photography for this time of the year.

Looking beautiful at your place.
We watched the Sound of Music Live and thought it was great. I appreciated her tweet in reply that mean people need Jesus and she'd be praying for them.
I had the lonely goater song stuck in my head most of Friday morning!
Glad you're doing the swimming but totally understand staying home when the roads are icky. Be well and spoil Joe so his wait goes quickly! :-)

Thinking of you and know it will such a relief to have the surgery over. The cookies sound wonderful since I love coconut :)
Take care.
Very cold here by the woods
