A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Some of My Favorite Things...

One of my favorite things to do is to make a collage out of my garden plant pictures. I like to coordinate everything along with the frame to get, what I think, is a nice picture. These pictures are an example of springtime from my yard. This was the best spring for growing that I can remember.Do you remember last year? It was the exact opposite of this year in the gardening world. When fall came, we were sitting on the porch looking at all the burned out spots in our yard. We thought that were would be a lot of work to do in the spring. I worried about the sad shape some my perennials were in. Would they come back after having such a rough summer? I watered, but it didn't seem to help. The trees were a concern too. Would they survive with no water. Well, everything did survive except two fir trees. I'm sad to say that we lost two big beautiful trees.. way back on our property. Joe planted them over 15 yrs ago and they were beauties. We called someone to come and see what the problem was and were told it could have been the drought. Since then, we have seen many trees like them,
dead in our town. The lawn came back and so did the perennials. I didn't lose one of them. So, now we go into summer and it hasn't stopped raining. Each day brings us some. Our river is over it's banks and will crest today. We can see it from the back of the house. We are hoping for a dry week, so those living on the river can clean up and those who use the river for pleasure can use their boats again. Mother Nature is so unpredictable...what lies ahead for us...only time will tell.
If you want to join Claudia this morning for a few favorite things just click on this link .http://mockingbirdhillcottage.com/  I can't believe that we've been doing this for 43 weeks...that means I've shown 43 favorite things. It's such a positive thing to do...finding something each week that we love, and being a positive person...I will find many more favorites for weeks to come.

By far the best spring we have had in a long time. My lilies have never been this tall or this big as they are now. Hey--what neat program do you use to make those pictures?

You are a positive person, Balisha! I'm so glad you are a part of this get-together. Love your flowers. My garden is much lusher this year, too. Thank goodness our water table is nice and high.

Thanks so much for joining in this week.

It's raining as I write this. Four days of rain, often heavy, last week and showers through Wednesday predicted this week. You're right about the benefit to the gardens, but it's made a mess of the strawberry fields this year. On the other hand we are thankful that there won't be a water shortage in our region.
