A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

An Inferior Bulb

My amaryllis, Full House, has opened. I was so disappointed...I had tried to plant it, so that it would be open for Valentine's Day. It was in full bud on Valentine's Day showing just a touch of red. You know how you anticipate what an amaryllis will look like. Checking it each day, making sure it is in the right spot, just enough sun, turning it so it doesn't grow crooked, supporting it if it grows tall etc. I have grown many before, so I was anxiously waiting for a beautiful red flower with a perfect white star in the center of each blossom. It didn't happen that way. This is what I got. Sort of a pale red, ragged flower, very much shorter than others, smaller size, fewer blossoms.
The above is how it is pictured on the internet. It was offered as a free bulb if I ordered two. I emailed the company this morning and attached a picture. I hope that they are more careful with selecting their free bulbs. I paid quite a high price for the two others. More than I would have from the big box stores. I like to order from this reliable company...everything else has been perfect. Maybe I just got an inferior bulb. We'll see what the company says. I have two others just coming into flower. I'll be posting pictures of them soon.
I could just spit...having to miss these last couple of days of warmer weather. I have had to just be inside looking out and now another "storm" is approaching. Maybe ice this time. I know that nicer days are coming, so until then I will keep barking like a seal (the cough is loosening up) and sitting by the window.

Isn't that always so disheartening when you are expecting a certain color and wham, it ends up all wrong. I had so much trouble with those last winter. It really looks nothing like the picture Balisha so I can imagine why you are disappointed.Maybe they will send you another free bulb?LOL!
I so enjoyed those warm days but I guess it was all to early and winter is still showing its muscle. I hope you do not get the ice though. Much rather have snow w2hich it looks like we will be getting some the first of the week. Feel better.

It looks kind of sickly doesn't it. Maybe feeling like I do.
I'm not wanting another bulb...I am a little tired of Amaryllis right now.Although a coupon for another one in the fall would be nice.
We are expecting some ice tonight. I just hope we are far enough south to just have rain. Daughter is in Wi. this weekend. I hope she doesn't get snowed in.
Have a nice day...thanks for cheering me up with all your comments and well wishes. Balisha

I am ready for anything blooming, too. Sorry you were disappointed in your amaryllis. Hope you two are beginning to feel better. It is cold and raining here today. The warm weather did not last long. Have a good week.
