A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

Decorating St. Mary's

It's 11:30 AM....and....
I'm making Christmas cookies...again!! I just got some Christmas spirit.

We decorated the Church for Christmas yesterday. We did it after the last mass and had a lot of helpers....many more that we usually do. This year people could buy a poinsettia in remembrance of a family member....we ended up with 35 plants. The poinsettias were all white. I think the Church looked so pretty keeping with the gold and white theme. We took each poinsettia and took the foil off...folded it on the table and gave each plant a good drink of water...then replaced the foil. After this initial watering...we will take care to water while on the Altar...and try not to spill on the wood or carpet.

Some of the gals were in charge of the fabric. Here is one of our "Church Mice" as I like to call us arranging some filmy gold fabric. You can see to her left how the fabric just puddled and made a cloud like cover for the base of the plants. This was her specialty...she can make fabric "puddle" so it looks like it just fell there.
The front entry was decorated with swags and tiny white lights and gold filmy bows. This is where our Moms and Dads sit with their little children, who are just learning how to behave at Church. We like them to have a pretty place to sit too. They sometimes feel like they aren't part of the congretation...so we try our best to decorate for all seasons in this section.
Here is our Manger. I think it is one of the prettiest that I've seen. Little children just stand in awe and look at it. We have a tradition of a small child carrying the baby Jesus down the center aisle on Christmas Eve. So cute.

That's how my Church will look on Christmas Eve this year. We hope that with the twinkly lights, candles and soft music...people will get into the spirit of the real meaning of Christmas.

Balisha I think that is such a wonderful idea to buy a poinsettia in remembrance of a loved one. The church looks so pretty all decked out for Christmas.
