A Sentiment

God knew what He was doing when He sent a gentle breeze and brought a lovely butterfly to set my heart at ease. The happiness of your friendship and the gentleness of your words have touched my life in special ways and now I feel assured. Thank you for your loyalty and for reading everyday. I only hope you find things to make a happy day.

First Haircut and a Candy Bar

Talking to Joe's son Dan yesterday, I was telling him about seeing women who have had their heads shaved for surgery and their hair just didn't look tidy. All shaggy and thin. He said, "Why not get a trim?" Why not indeed. I could get a trim and keep trimming it ever so often until it grows back. As I was checking out at Walmart (my fave store) this morning, I noticed a young woman in the beauty shop just across the aisle. She was watching a haircutting video and all alone in the store. I went up to her and told her what I wanted. She turned out to be the sweetest person. She called me Miss. Told me to come with her and took my coat and packages and put them on the chair next to her station. She said, "Now sweetheart let's make you beautiful." She knew exactly what I wanted. A more feminine look...with little wisps of hair pulled forward on my face. Just those little wisps of hair make me feel so feminine. I got her card and she circled the days that she worked there. I paid her and gave her a generous tip...I told her that she made me feel so good about myself. I will continue going to Carrie every couple of weeks and maybe after that too. They come and go at Walmart, so she may not be there long. But until she leaves, she has a customer.

Isn't it something how one person can make your day so special? I hope that I can pass this on to someone else when they are feeling bad about themselves. It gives you such a lift for someone to give you a little extra care.

I bought Halloween candy for trick or treaters today. I have been wanting a candy bar and bought two Snickers...one for Joe and one for me. I got out to the car, and I told Joe about Carrie. I told him that I bought candy for the kids that he and I didn't like...so we won't be tempted to eat it. He grinned and reached in his jacket pocket and handed me a Snickers bar...I told him that I had bought him one too. What a guy!

I do love hearing how your life is going and everyone else's, too. It does make me happy to know that a hairdresser just starting out had the empathy to know just what you needed for a haircut. I'm thinking me and my hairdresser may be parting ways soon, but my hair did alright today, so she is still on for a while. Maybe you can take her a Snickers the next time you go to Wal-Mart, one of my stores of choice, too.

Hi amber Star,
What a good idea...Isn't it hard to find one who knows just what you want?

So true how one nice person can make you feel so good, or turn your day around. I need to remember that - you never know when you will make someone's day!

I just had my hair cut on Saturday. My hairdresser is finally back at work. She had a brain tumor removed on July 3rd and I have missed her so much. She is doing great and I told her she cannot be sick again or stop cutting hair because my hair has not been the same while she was gone.

It's always so nice to have someone go out of his/her way to make your day. I think her actions not only benefited you, but made her feel good inside, as well. Glad you felt good about yourself! We can all use a "pick me up" every now and then! :-) Sue

How neat! You will probably come up with a completely new hairdo over this unfortunate turn of events.
